Programme

The 4 days conference includes keynotes, technical sessions, poster sessions and discussion panels.

Timetable

Keynotes

Four keynotes will be held by internationally recognized scientists from Europe (2), Americas (1) and Asia (1). They will be held live from the involved labs. The format is flexible, including:

  • Talk from the head of the lab
  • Behind the scene/lab tour
  • Involvement of graduate students, presenting and demonstrating their projects
  • Possibility to exchange among students and participants

Technical sessions

The conference will also include five technical sessions. Each session will consist of two invited talks, which will be pre-recorded followed by a live Q&A session. Sessions will be focus on following topics:

  • Emerging technologies
  • Shape adaptation and morphing
  • Smart structures & materials
  • Vibration control & energy harvesting
  • Structural health monitoring and sensors

Poster sessions

The poster session will be dedicated to young scientists and divided in two parts, also including a poster competition.

  • First day poster presentation: 20-30 the students will give short presentations and also prepare a pre-recorded 2-3 min presentation about the own research in order to provide the opportunity to participants to gather more detailed information and prepare the route for the second day.
  • Second day poster discussion: Dedicated breakout rooms for each of the 20-30 poster presenters will be available to meet and discuss with interested participants. Everyone can visit each virtual booth and have live discussions.

Panel discussion

A panel of international leaders will discuss the future of smart materials and structures. Session will also include guided Q&A and dedicated chats to foster lively discussion.
